What a banquet hall costs in Prince George’s County, and what to ask

How hall prices are built, the questions that reveal the real total, and our own rates.

Banquet hall prices around Riverdale, Hyattsville and College Park vary widely, and many halls do not publish them at all. That makes comparing hard. Here is how prices are usually built, and the questions that show you the real total before you sign.

What moves the price

  • The day. Saturday evenings cost the most. Fridays and Sundays sit in the middle. Monday to Thursday is usually the best value.
  • The hours. Most halls sell a block of time. Check whether setup and cleanup count inside that block or cost extra.
  • The season and holidays. Spring, early summer and autumn weekends book first. Some halls charge holiday weekends at the top rate.
  • Guest count. Some venues price by tiers of guests. Others charge one rate for the room.

Ten questions to ask any venue

  1. Are setup and cleanup inside my hours?
  2. How much is the deposit, and when is the balance due?
  3. Which parts are refundable, and by when?
  4. What does one extra hour cost?
  5. Are tables, chairs and linens included, and how many?
  6. How many guests does the fire code allow for my layout?
  7. Can I bring my own caterer and decorator?
  8. Is security required, and who pays for it?
  9. How much parking is free at the time of my event?
  10. What time must the music stop and the room be empty?

Costs that surprise people

Cleaning fees, required security, overtime charged in full hours, cake cutting fees and damage deposits that take weeks to come back. Ask for every one of them in writing before you pay a deposit.

Our rates

We print every rate on our rates page. Every package includes the room, tables and chairs, setup and cleanup time, and an attendant on site. Saturday evenings start at $3,900, Fridays at $3,100, Saturday daytimes at $1,800, and weekday repasts and meetings at $850.
